Someone knocks on the door of our camper where we had just spent the first night on wheels in Alaska. Surprised, having just woken up, it seemed as though we were resisting answering. They knock again with more insistence. Upon opening the door, Bill asks for Bruno, adding: “I have a surprise. An eagle for breakfast.” We had met Bill, a friendly retiree from Texas, the afternoon before, in front of the bay, at the campsite in Seward. We, novices in the world of campers, were trying to level that huge motorhome. He, charmingly, gave us not one, but many helping hands and even took us in his car to the cheapest place to buy firewood, a grill, beers…
